Gaga again!

Hi Readers,
Here is a a link to the fabulous interview with Nicola Formichetti and Lady Gaga regarding their collaboration on the Thierry Mugler collection for Fall 2011.  I thought a quick review of this interview would put us all in the perfect mood to select a fantastic ensemble for her upcoming concert.  So, enjoy fashion friends!!

Suzy Menkes' interview with Lady Gaga at Paris Fashion Week

So, now that we've done our homework, let's tackle the outfit.  On my last visit to the Lady Gaga concert I sat in the stands and was free to wear whatever "monster" ensemble my little heart desired.  That included sequin shorty shorts a white tank and spikey stilettos. However, this time around, my hubby scored us tickets in his company's super sweet suite!  While I'm excited to up the fabulous factor (cocktails and hor-deurves will no doubt flow like wine) there is the added complication of sharing the suite with his work associates.  While I may have to tone down the outlandishness of the Gaga-ensemble, it still must be fitting for Mother Monster.

My plan is to take a super fun jumpsuit in a basic shade of black and add knockout accessories. The jumpsuit says, "I'm fashionable and fun, but I'm still all covered up!"  (Quite the opposite of the sequin hot pants I wore last go-round).  But, I digress.....I'm going to add shoulder dusting feather earrings, even more bracelets than usual and a sky-high platform sandal to make this outfit sing! (And if it could sing, I'm pretty sure the tune would be "Born this Way!")  Just grab a visually interesting sweater or jacket on the way out the door and your ready to rock!  Look out "Paparazzi,"  I've got my "Poker Face" on and I'm headed to see Gaga!!

A Fabulous Crop - Working Girl Chic Tuesday

Happy Working Girl Chic Tuesday Readers!
As it gets warmer and warmer, your work wardrobe should evolve as well.  While you still must dress appropriately, things get a little lighter and just slightly more casual.  I think a great way to adapt to warmer weather is to adopt the cropped pant.  Here are a few runway examples:

DKNY

Tory Burch

DKNY

Banana Republic

The cropped pant - especially in khaki or white - will transform your boring suit wardrobe in a brightly chic spring look.  If your workplace is extremely conservative, shop for a crop that hits exactly at the ankle.  Otherwise, just try a few options to determine which one most flatters your figure.  Once you've made your perfect selecation, throw on an interesting jacket (preferrably in coral tones - THE shade of the season) and a touch of turqoise jewelry.  Be certain to add a pair of sky high heels to elongate your legs and you're ready to work it!!

Green With Envy!

It's Monday again, Dear Readers!
While we are all headed off to accomplish our regular old day-to-day tasks (work, grocery shopping, taking care of children or husbands) it's nice to have a little glimpse into the life of the famous and fabulous. Or so I thought as I was gazing enviously at the party pics from Chanel's fete in honor of Blake Lively.  She looks glowing and stunning as usual. The beautiful ensemble she wore for the occasion inspired today's look.

I am absolutely in love with the neutral palette of her dress and shoes with just the pop of green in her earrings. This got me thinking, this is something we should all be doing!  We always think of a pop of color in a handbag or a shoe, but why not in a beautiful pair of emerald earrings?  A bright green earring highlights the face and will have everyone else green with envy!

I've put together a look that could easily be worn to the office.  However the same ensemble - sans jacket - could be perfect for a date night or a party. Either way, be certain to pull your hair back in a messy bun (a la Miss Lively) so that your eye-candy earrings are front and center!  Keep all of the accessories neutral and you're ready to glow!

Gaga for Mugler!

The Twitterverse was a-buzz Tuesday and Wednesday with rumblings that the fabulous "Mother Monster" herself would be walking in Nicola Formichetti's first women's show for Mugler. All of those dreams came true today when she (and her massive blonde pigtails) appeared on the runway on Wednesday evening.  Ok, so I know...this is a fashion blog...and this collection is hardly wearable fashion. (Most of it looks as if it was designed by Haus of Gaga for her showstopping concerts)  But, as a result of my Lady Gaga obsession, I just could not pass up the opportunity to share this fabulousness with all of you.  Also, (spoiler alert)  I will soon be sharing my hunt for the perfect Lady Gaga concert outfit with you.  So, think of this as a little ice breaker for that post!

Pigtails, black latex, Monster paws....love it!
Actually loving the head to to white.  And I thought I was the master of the platform shoes.  I'm not sure I could walk 2 feet in those beasts!

Ahhh....My Lady Gaga obsession will never end.....
Here are a few other looks from the show.  Not because we like them, just because I don't feel as if this qualifies as a fahsion post unless I cover the actual fashion shown.  OK, here goes.....

Kind of enjoying these head-to-toe black dominatrix looks. You know I can't pass up a fierce black ensemble. The sharp shouldered jacket is great!

I do love this color of cerulean.  Although I'm confused about the top that covers everything except the boobs.  But, beyond the peep-show dress, I think these are both great looks!

And then this last one...I don't know.  It's just so entertaining.  I couldn't resist.....

Put your paws up everybody!  And have a fabulous day!

The Gucci obsession continues - Fall 2011

Excuse the panting...I am simply trying to catch my breath after watching the insane fabulousness that was the Gucci Fall 2011 runway show.  Seriously, I think I need a minute.......

OK, I've pulled myself together a little.  I am absolutely crazy about the vivid colors, the sumputous fur, the gossamer frocks, the seventies sensibilities.  It's so sexy, but stunningly elegant!  Whoa....getting close to hyperventilating again!

Since I'm having trouble communicating my obsession - take a peek a this amazing video.  It really sums up the feeling of the show as well as the brilliant thoughts of Frida Giannini.

Here are a couple of my favorite picks from the show: (I know there are a ton.....I just COULD NOT narrow it down!)

Fur, Fur and more Fur!  Sorry PETA....looks like it's going to be a very furry year -

Look at these killer dresses.  And how much do you love the handcrafted flowers draped across the ladies' shoulders like fur capelets.  Glamour, drama, hotness....die!

Draped in Fabulous! - Working girl chic Tuesday

Welcome to another Working Girl Chic Tuesday!
Today we are going to chat about how fabulous a draped skirt can be at your workplace.  Often I think of draping on elegant dresses worn to galas or cocktail parties. However, draping can be just as chic at the office.   A draped skirt is a great way to be ultra-feminine in the corporate world, while still being completely appropriate!

Today I've picked out two draped skirt options for your consideration.  If you are in a workplace that is a little more progressive you can go with the abbreviated version, if not, then opt for the longer version.  Either way, I love the look of these skirts paired with a lace top.  Whether it be all over cream lace or a white tank piped in black lace, this will make your look even more ladylike. The key to making this look work-appropriate is pairing it with a structured blazer. This jacket should hit you right above the hip for the most flattering look.  If it falls below this point and covers the draping of the skirt then you will have added volume.  Very unfortunate!  All you need now is a uber-cool chain and pendant necklace, multiple chain bracelets and a pop-of-color handbag.  Also, since we are pushing the trend envelope on the draped skirt, pair this look with a classically beautiful pair of black pumps.  What a fabulously chic way to work it!

Best of the Show - Which of Anne's changes was the best?

Although the reviews of her performance have been lukewarm, at best, Anne Hathaway's outfit changes did not disappoint!  You and I both know who we owe all of the eye candy to, right?  The fabulously fashionable Rachel Zoe.  (I noticed Team Zoe even got a shout out in the ending credits of the show.)  I have to admit, the dress changes were what I was most looking forward to when it was announced that Anne would be hosting. Usually we only get to see one Zoe pick on each star, it's so great for her to have multiple options!  Which was your favorite??

Givenchy Haute Couture

Versace

Oscar de la Renta

Vivienne Westwood

Lanvin Tux and custom Brian Atwood pumps

Armani Prive

Tom Ford

I think I'm going to have to go with the Tom Ford (you already know I'm obsessed).  A sheer lace dress covered in sparkle could easily cross over into tawdry territory. However, Mr. Ford keeps this one completely classy by covering the arms, legs and decollete.  So chic!  I was also impressed with how dramatically her hair changed with every look.  Anyone who has ever worn an up do knows its not so easy to transition quickly into a sleek hair-down-do.  My favorite look was probably the Veronica Lake-esque wavy hair worn with her first Givenchy gown.  The other favorite was the semi-up do she chose for the Versace gown.  That overall look was complete elegance.

Many times I give up on the broadcast halfway through (after you've seen the red carpet, the dresses are no longer surprises).  But, these fabulous dress changes kept me tuned in to the very end!  Thanks Team Zoe!
