It's a snowy Tuesday here in big D. Yes, it was seriously 75 degrees here this weekend and now it's 12 degrees. Like they say here in Texas, if you don't like the weather, just wait an hour.
But, all of this snow and ice has me thinking on this "Working Girl Chic Tuesday." It's February, meaning that all a girl can find in the store are new spring pieces. That can be a bit discouraging. After all, one thing I hate is making new purchases and having them sit in my closet for a couple of months. But, do not despair, dress code diaries to the rescue! When I buy work wear items I like to find things that (with just a bit of tweaking) can be worn year round. Particularly, I love sleeveless sheath dresses in bright prints like the one below. Just add a long sleeve, bow-neck blouse, tights and booties and you're ready for winter. Once the weather finally gets warmer you can wear sandals and a chunky, bohemian-inspired necklace and be right on trend. The best part is, these booties can work great with tights when it's frigid or with a bare leg in the spring (because of the peeptoe and woven design....think of them as a versatile sandal). I also love a nod to spring with a structured coral bag like this one from Topshop.
When you begin making your wardrobe pieces work for you in multiple ways and in various seasons you can exponentially expand your wardrobe! So, don't get frustrated with winter....get creative!
