The Ultimate Fashion Fete - The 2011 Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala

Please pardon the interruption from our regularly scheduled "Working Girl Chic Tuesday."  But, there is a fashion emergency!  Last night was the MET Gala in New York City - the one event that is certain to bring out the fashion set in full force. While the Oscars are glamorous, and the Grammys entertaining they really do not hold a stylish candle to the MET gala.  This is where fashion icons take big risks and create moments that we, fashion followers, will remember for years to come.  This year the MET ball celebrates the opening of the "Alexander Mcqueen, Savage Beauty" exhibition and many of the chic attendees chose to wear the late, great designer's iconic work. Here are a few -

Gisele in McQueen

SJP in McQueen - One of my favorite looks at the gala!

Salma Hayek in McQueen
Another trend that continued on the red carpet was beautiful, vibrant COLOR!

Brooklyn Decker in Michael Kors

Diana Agron with Michael Kors - her date for the evening (who also looks a bit like a bodyguard in this pic!)

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci - Another favorite!

Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop (I know, Topshop....weird, huh?)

Mary Kate Olsen in vintage Givenchy - digging the boho evening look
Other ladies went "Au Naturel" in nude and blush tones.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

Liv Tyler in Givenchy Haute Couture

Very preggers Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney

Gwynnie in Stella McCartney - dying over this look.

Dakota Fanning in Valentino

Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively in Chanel Haute couture....we haven't yet discussed her newly auburn tresses, do we like?

Trussed up - Some ladies chose some seriously corseted looks.  So very hot, although there's not much room for champagne!

Christina Ricci in Zac Posen

Beyonce in Emilio Pucci

Rumer Willis in Badgley Mischka Couture

Lucy Liu in Vionnet

And then, there is the queen mum of all things stylish and fabulous.....

Anna Wintour in Chanel Haute Couture (with a glimpse of Andre Leon Talley in the background....LOVE!)

The Fabulous BAFTAS - Fashion wrapup

The BAFTAs took place over the weekend in jolly old England.  OK, I must admit, I don't really know what the BAFTA's are, who won, or even who was nominated.  All I know is the stars came out in some of the most beautiful gowns I've seen all year.  I am hoping this means the stars are going to really "bring it" this year at the Oscars.   There was so much color and elegance the pictures literally took my breath away. I just had to share with all of you!  Enjoy!

XO, RC
Annette Bening in Marchesa - I still love a white gown.  Especially with red nails and lips!

Amy Adams in Elie Saab - Elegantly neutral

Rosamund Pike in Alexander McQueen - She is beauiful on her own, but add some McQueen and the result is stunning.

Jessica Alba in Atelier Versace - I'm dying over this color! And with the necklace, very Cleopatra

Julianne Moore in Tom Ford - You already know I'm obsessed with Mr. Ford.  Beautiful!

Thandie Newton in Monique Lhullier - Ok, I don't really get the black necklace but the dress is gorgeous!
Emma Stone in Lanvin - I was sooo hoping someone would snatch this frock off the runway. I'm glad it was Emma.  She wears it perfectly!

Grammy fashion wrapup

Let's get real, it's pretty difficult to do a fashion post about what the celebrities wear to the Grammys.  As I'm enjoying the Grammy red carpet I'm rarely thinking, "Wow, what a stylish choice!"  I'm usually thinking something more along the lines of, "Wow, I've never seen something like that before!"  So, We must start with the most bizarre moments of the red carpet because - let's face it - that's why everyone watches the Grammys anyway!

Niki Minaj in Givenchy - Like I said, - What? Never have seen something like this before!

Katy Perry in Armani - Angel wings, really?  OK, then.

Lady Gaga arrives - You've just got to love the drama...

Miley Cyrus in Cavalli - Ok, is it just because I don't care for her...or is it the dress?  I can't decide.

Rihanna in Jean Paul Gaultier - Toilet Paper Couture
Now, on to my favorite looks from the Grammys.  While these were not as eye-popping as those above, they were still stylish and super fun.  Because, after all, Grammy fashion is not meant to be serious.  A sexy, frisky dress is just what the stylist ordered!  And that's what these ladies delivered!

Florence Welch in Givenchy - Love her, love her music, love the dress!

Look at the back of this beautiful gown - obsessed!

Jennifer Hudson in Versace - She looks amazing! This compliments her sexy new shape perfectly.

Jennifer Lopez in Pucci - JLo always knows exactly what kind of dress the Grammys calls for.

Nicole Kidman in Jean Paul Gaultier - A slightly serious silhouette with playful embellishment.

Ciara in Pucci - What do we think?  I'm going back and forth on this one. I love the cutouts, but that slit is just a little bit too high for my taste.

So, there are my thoughts.  What do you think....who was the best dressed?

Oh, What a fashion night! - 2011 Golden Globes Wrapup

What a fabulous night of fashion! Seriously, it has taken me this long to recover!  OK, I have to be real with you, stylish readers, I have been having such a beautiful time here in DC that I am just now making it to the computer for a recap.  I apologize for the delay, but here goes:

One of the biggest fashion moments that we did NOT see coming was the beautiful deep green hues that many stars turned to.  Perhaps it was a slow return to color or a nod to fall, but I enjoyed it all the same!

PS, how good does Brad look.  I know this blog is about the ladies, but thought I should leave the boy in...just for fun!

Also, I absolutely loved all of the vibrant color present on the red carpet last night.  It added such excitement and heat!

Hello, Hot Mamma!  Sofia looked smoking hot....a serious contender for best dressed!

And, oh, what beautiful neutrals we saw.  Although, I have to admit, I'm getting a little tired of the neutrals and metallics on the red carpet...the stars twinkled in some beautiful neutral shades last night.  Here are a couple of the best.

And, to wrap up. There were winners, there were losers, and then there was the most fabulously dressed of the evening.  For me, there was no competition.  The only winner was the beautiful January Jones in Versace.  Hotness and Style all in one....love, love, love it!

Golden Globes - What will they wear?

Awards season is one of my favorite times of year.  It is so exciting to see fashion come alive and walk the red carpet on our favorite glittering stars.  It's also exciting, for me, to make some predictions.  No, not on who will win what.  (I leave that to my movie obsessed better half).  Instead, I am solely focused on what new fashion trends will be created, what hairstyles are most popular, and what new fashion moments will occur that we will remember for years to come.  I predict that color will be a major player this year like it hasn't been in the past.  The runways were full of vibrant, beautiful hues that would make for some serious red carpet eye-candy.

Gucci  - Spring 2011

Prada - Spring 2011

Lanvin - Spring 2011

Zac Posen - Spring 2011

Oscar de la Renta - Spring 2011

Elie Saab - Spring 2011
Also, I think we will see some major influence from the ballet world.  Ballerinas swarmed the runways this spring (and the movie theatre in the thrillingly beautiful movie, Black Swan).  I hope this will lead many actresses to revisit the barre and don everything from flowy nude dresses to semi-tutus.

Marchesa - Spring 2011

J. Mendel - Spring 2011

J. Mendel - Spring 2011

Marchesa - Spring 2011
Chanel - Spring 2011

So, lovely readers, let's all enjoy the glamour and the fashion and meet back here tomorrow for a stylish wrap up!
